Simple preparation of silver-doped manganese oxide nanocomposite showing enhanced photocatalytic and antimicrobial properties in visible light spectrum

A breakthrough in nanotechnology has been achieved with the successful characterization of Ag/Mn2O3 nanocatalyst that demonstrated remarkable properties. The nanorods of 500 nm length and 20 nm diameter have shown high-quality particles via TEM micrographs. The crystal structure has been confirmed through XRD diffractogram, and the proper deposition of silver nanocatalyst on the surface of Mn2O3 was verified.

The study further evaluated the impact of silver dopant on the binding energy of surface oxygen and Mn 3S electrons. The XPS analysis confirmed the successful deposition of elemental silver on the surface of Mn2O3 particles, enhancing catalytic reactions.

The photocatalytic performance of Ag/Mn2O3 NPs revealed impressive results, with enhanced removal efficiency under visible light compared to Mn2O3. The nanocomposite demonstrated potential in biofilm inhibition and antimicrobial activities, with significant inhibitory effects on Gram-negative bacteria.

Overall, the study opens new avenues for the application of Ag/Mn2O3 nanocatalyst in various fields, including environmental remediation, antibacterial treatments, and biofilm inhibition. The superior properties exhibited by the synthesized NPs highlight their potential in advancing nanotechnology for a wide range of applications.
