Quino Energy introduces 100 kWh flow battery pilot and sets sights on worldwide growth

Quino Energy, a leading energy storage company, is making waves with its ambitious plans to expand production into the European Union and focus on field pilot development on a global scale. The company recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful operation of a 6 kW/24 kWh pilot system and two 1.5 kW/6 kWh systems at its facility, showcasing its innovative chemistry in full systems.

These pilot systems, originally designed for vanadium but adapted for use by Quino Energy, have proven to be successful with minimal modifications. All four lab pilot systems utilize full-size stacks found in megawatt-scale systems and active materials produced in Buffalo, NY by Electrosynthesis Company, Quino Energy’s Department of Energy (DOE) project partner.

Quino Energy’s production process has reached ton-scale production, marking a significant accomplishment in US domestic manufacturing of flow battery active material. This feat is a testament to the scalability and cost-effectiveness of Quino Energy’s zero-waste production process.

Changwon Suh, Technology Manager at the DOE AMMTO, praised Quino Energy’s rapid progress and innovative technology, highlighting the potential for commercial acceptance and greater adoption of clean energy solutions. Quino Energy’s organic flow battery electrolytes exemplify the DOE AMMTO’s vision of bridging the gap between academic research and commercial viability through collaborative RD&D.

With its cutting-edge technology and commitment to sustainability, Quino Energy is poised to revolutionize the energy storage industry and lead the way towards a clean, decarbonized economy.
