Halliburton, a global energy service company, is opening up opportunities for local companies in Africa to participate in the oil and gas industry. The company is inviting eligible local businesses to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the supply of goods and services across various categories within the oil and gas sector.
This initiative by Halliburton aims to enhance the participation of African-based companies and service providers, even in countries without specific local content laws. By connecting local players to oil and gas projects through a competitive bidding process, Halliburton is not only supporting supplier diversity but also stimulating economic growth and market expansion.
The EOI opportunities cover a wide range of services, including machine repair, oil and lubricants, welding and fabrication, as well as associated support services like car rentals, medical clinics, and IT hardware. This initiative not only benefits companies directly involved in the oil and gas industry but also those across the entire economic spectrum.
With a strong presence in Africa, Halliburton has been actively involved in various oil and gas projects across the continent. From winning contracts in Namibia and Libya to securing deals in Nigeria, the company is committed to local content and sustainability in its operations.
Through its local content strategy, Halliburton is setting an example for other international companies to follow, showing that it is possible to create value for clients and opportunities for local communities without waiting for specific local content regulations. As the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, NJ Ayuk, states, Halliburton’s local content strategy is laying the foundation for a vibrant oil and gas landscape in Africa, and other companies in the industry should take note.
