Randy Schmidt Takes over as Managing Director of Burns & McDonnell Terminals and Pipelines Group
In a recent announcement, Randy Schmidt has been named as the new managing director of the Burns & McDonnell Terminals and Pipelines group, taking over from Ted Born who is retiring. Schmidt’s promotion was effective as of January 1, 2017. With Born’s leadership, the group has played a crucial role in the growth of Burns & McDonnell by successfully completing various large projects for major oil and gas industry companies.
Based in Houston, Schmidt will be leading a team of 140 engineering, procurement, and construction professionals who are currently working on multiple storage and transportation projects for petroleum-based products across the nation. With 14 years of experience at Burns & McDonnell, Schmidt has led teams on a wide range of projects, including oil and gas pipelines, storage facilities, and loading/unloading terminals for various modes of transportation.
Mike Fenske, senior vice president at Burns & McDonnell, praised Schmidt’s track record in the fast-paced oil and gas industry, highlighting his expertise in EPC project delivery. Schmidt’s 24 years of professional experience have also seen him managing multi-discipline teams on large-scale facilities improvement projects, including the district heating and cooling plant serving the Texas Medical Center.
Schmidt, a registered professional engineer with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia, is expected to bring his deep understanding of the industry to further success at Burns & McDonnell Terminals and Pipelines group.
