Sia Penned Rihanna’s Hit Song ‘Diamonds’ in Just 15 Minutes While Waiting for a Cab, Benny Blanco Discloses

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Benny Blanco, the co-producer of the hit track “Diamonds” performed by Rihanna, shared an astonishing story about working with the talented songwriter Sia. Blanco described the experience as “the craziest thing” he has ever witnessed in his life.

According to Blanco, the 48-year-old hitmaker penned the chart-topping song “Diamonds” in just five minutes. He recalled how Sia effortlessly composed the song while waiting for a cab she had requested. Blanco marveled at Sia’s ability to create a complete song, including lyrics, melody, and harmonies, in such a short amount of time.

The decision to give the song to Rihanna instead of keeping it for herself was also discussed. Blanco explained that Sia, known for her own powerful vocals on tracks like “Chandelier” and “Cheap Thrills,” felt that Rihanna’s voice had a unique quality that perfectly complemented the song. Thus, “Diamonds” became one of Rihanna’s 12th No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

Blanco also shared his personal experience of producing the demo for the song and initially feeling uncertain about its potential. However, once Rihanna recorded her vocals for the track, Blanco knew that they had created something truly special.

In addition to his work with Sia and Rihanna, Blanco has produced songs for artists such as Ed Sheeran, Katy Perry, and his current girlfriend, Selena Gomez. He even hinted at the possibility of marriage with Gomez in the future.

As for Sia, she is currently executive producing an album for Paris Hilton, showcasing her versatility and talent in the music industry. Her ability to create hit songs in mere minutes solidifies her reputation as one of the speediest and most talented songwriters in the game.
