Two sweeps: Evart dominates Lake City in baseball and softball | Sports

Evart High School’s baseball team showcased their dominance in a doubleheader against Lake City, securing two convincing victories. In the first game, Evart shut out Lake City 6-0 with stellar pitching performances from Lucas Johnson and Preston Wallace. Johnson’s four innings on the mound only allowed one hit while Wallace finished strong with three strikeouts in two innings. Shortstop Aidan Anderson stood out at the plate with two RBI doubles.

Coach Josh Johnson commended his team’s solid defensive plays and strong pitching performances in both games. Lake City struggled to match Evart’s offensive power, with Tyler Atkins and Ethan Goodrich leading the way for their team.

Game two saw Evart explode for 12 runs in the first inning, ultimately winning 12-8. Anderson continued his hot streak with another multi-hit game, while Johnson and Gabe Mitchell contributed key hits. Aidan Anderson also shined on the mound, helping Evart secure the sweep.

In another baseball matchup, Buckley faced off against Suttons Bay in a doubleheader, splitting the games with a strong pitching performance from Landon Kulawiak in the opener. Meanwhile, Evart’s softball team dominated their opponents, Lake City, with a barrage of home runs and solid pitching efforts, finishing the day with two commanding victories.
