The annual Canal Run event in the Copper Country is gearing up for another successful year of promoting fitness and giving back to the community. This year, Canal Run Gives Back will be supporting the Copper Country Humane Society, an organization dedicated to helping furry friends find loving homes.
Past recipients of the Canal Run Gives Back program, such as Omega House and Little Brothers, have greatly benefited from the funds raised through registration fees and sponsorships. Angela Luskin, Community Health Coordinator at UPHS – Portage, emphasized the dual purpose of the program, which not only provides financial support but also raises awareness for important community organizations.
Kerri Sleeman, Vice President of the CCHS Board of Directors, highlighted the vital role that collaborative events play in supporting the shelter’s efforts to provide medical care and everyday necessities for the hundreds of animals in their care. She invited community members to consider adopting a pet, as the shelter is currently full and in need of loving homes.
The Canal Run event is set to take place on Saturday, July 20th, with different registration fees based on race distance. Those interested in participating or volunteering can find more information on the Canal Run website.
