Tosyalı, a global green steel producer, has announced a groundbreaking new steel investment in Benghazi, Libya, marking a significant expansion of its worldwide operations. The company, which already has investments in Turkey, Algeria, Senegal, Angola, and Spain, is now set to construct the World’s Largest Iron Steel Plant in the Mediterranean basin.
Fuat Tosyalı, Chairman of Tosyalı Holding, expressed his excitement about the new venture, emphasizing the company’s commitment to creating a positive impact on the economic, environmental, and social development of the countries they enter. The new complex in Benghazi will focus on producing value-added steel products with low carbon emissions, utilizing advanced technology and innovation.
The partnership between Tosyalı and Libya United Steel Company for Iron and Steel Industry (SULB) is expected to strengthen economic ties between Benghazi, Libya, and Turkey. The establishment of Tosyalı-SULB in Benghazi will include the construction of DRI plants with a total capacity of 8.1 million tons, making it the world’s largest such facility. The plant will operate using clean energy sources, positioning Benghazi as a key player in global steel production and green steel innovation.
