African Energy Metals has announced a transformational agreement with Voyageur that could potentially establish the company as a leader in exploration in the Flin Flon mining camp in Manitoba. The project, subject to extensive exploration by Falconbridge and HudBay, boasts a polymetallic copper deposit with an average grade of 1.5% copper and 0.5% zinc.
The project, located just 25 km from Flin Flon, has four distinct metal regions contained in 54 claims spanning 72.4 km². Drill Hole MN-00-38 intersected impressive grades of 4.17% copper, 0.34% zinc, 11.8g/t silver, and 255 ppb gold over 4.1 m, indicating significant mineralization potential.
The Flin Flon camp has a rich mining history, having produced over 170 million tons of sulphide ore from 31 VHMS deposits with substantial investments in infrastructure. The project’s proximity to existing infrastructure and the HudBay zinc-copper processing facility makes it an appealing opportunity for development.
The company is set to appoint Richard Masson as President and CEO, further strengthening its leadership team. Additionally, the company plans to undertake a private placement to fund exploration work on the project and improve its financial position.
With the potential for significant growth in the resource and the opportunity to develop a company-making asset in Manitoba, African Energy Metals is poised to make a mark in the mining industry. The company’s focus on critical metals projects in the Flin Flon mining belt highlights its commitment to exploration and development in a jurisdiction with access to capital for exploration and development.
