CEO: New technology set to increase Hindustan Zinc’s metal recovery rate to 98.5%

In a groundbreaking move, Hindustan Zinc, a leading producer of zinc in India, is set to revolutionize its operations by implementing a new technology in partnership with VEXL Environ Projects Pvt Ltd. This partnership aims to increase metal recovery rates and achieve zero waste generation.

According to Arun Misra, the chief executive of Hindustan Zinc, the new technology has the potential to increase the zinc metal recovery rate from the current 97% to an impressive 98.5%. This advancement will not only boost efficiency but also contribute to sustainability by reducing waste.

One of the key highlights of this new technology is its ability to convert discharges like jarosite into usable byproducts for industries such as fertilizers and paints. This will significantly reduce the waste generated by the company, marking a significant step towards environmental responsibility.

VEXL Environ Projects, the Bhopal-based company working on environment and waste management solutions, has developed this indigenous technology, making it a first-of-its-kind globally. The pilot project is expected to become operational within 15-16 months, with plans to scale it up post successful testing.

Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in its efforts to adopt innovative technologies for a more efficient and eco-friendly operation. This move is not only expected to benefit the company but also set a new standard for the industry as a whole.
