In a daring heist that shocked residents of Howrah, four people have been arrested by the Howrah Police Commissionerate for allegedly looting goods worth Rs 15 lakh from a metal factory in the city. The incident took place in the early hours of July 27 when a group of 10 to 12 individuals broke into the Jalan complex in Howrah’s Domju area.
The assailants arrived in a Tata ACE vehicle and a motorcycle, targeting the Gavrill Metals warehouse and overpowering the lone security guard on duty. They tied up and assaulted the guard before breaking into the warehouse and making off with approximately 4 tons of zinc bars and other items.
Following a complaint from the factory officials, a case was registered against the unidentified assailants. The police launched an immediate investigation and were able to track down the suspects by analyzing roadside CCTV footage and identifying the vehicle used in the crime.
The police arrested Subrata Sen and his associate Bishal Jaiswal, who confessed to the crime during interrogation and implicated six other accomplices. Another individual, Bishal Sahu, was also arrested for receiving the stolen goods. With Sahu’s help, the police were able to recover the looted goods from a godown in Ghora.
“We formed a special team of our best officers and were able to solve the case and recover the entire stolen property in less than 12 hours,” said Howrah Police Commissioner Praveen Tripathi.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the police are currently searching for the remaining suspects who are still at large. The swift and efficient action taken by the Howrah Police Commissionerate in this case has garnered praise from the local community.
