Titan Mining Corporation has reported promising results from the ongoing Kilbourne exploration program at its Empire State Mine in upstate New York. The initial phase of trenching and drilling has revealed significant graphite mineralization, indicating a potential entry opportunity into the US graphite market.
CEO Don Taylor expressed his satisfaction with the results, stating that the deposit’s size and grade are substantial. The Kilbourne target has shown potential for open pit mining on permitted ground.
Surface drilling has focused on delineating the thickness and grade of the graphite mineralization within the active mine permit area. Assays from the completed drill holes have shown significant mineralized intercepts, with graphitic carbon content reaching up to 4.1%.
The exploration program has successfully tested mineralization from the surface to depths of 592 ft and along a strike length of nearly 5,000 ft within the permitted area. Additional drilling is planned to further explore near-surface mineralization.
In addition to drilling, the company has conducted channel sampling and trenching to assess the quality of the mineralization. Assay results have exceeded expectations, with an average grade of 3.2% Cg and individual samples showing up to 11.3% Cg.
Metallurgical testing is planned to evaluate processing options for maximizing recovery and concentrate grades while maintaining the natural large flake size of the mineralization. The company is optimistic about the potential of the Kilbourne project and remains committed to excellence in its exploration efforts.
