Sarytogan Identifies New Target Market Based on Lead Acid Battery Results

Sarytogan Graphite, a leading player in the graphite industry, has recently made waves with the successful testing of lead acid batteries using anodes made from its high-quality product sourced from its project in Kazakhstan. The company has reported that the batteries exhibited a superior discharge capacity compared to control results, positioning them as a key player in the rechargeable power market.

Lead acid batteries are a significant contributor to the global rechargeable power sector, accounting for half of the world’s rechargeable power. The graphite used in these batteries can fetch prices ranging from US$12,000 to US$20,000 per tonne, making it a lucrative market for companies like Sarytogan Graphite. The company’s ultra-high-purity fines, a byproduct of its graphite production process, have been instrumental in creating high-performance battery anodes.

According to Sarytogan Graphite’s managing director Sean Gregory, the company is eyeing the lead acid battery market as a key revenue stream for its ultra-high-purity fines. The successful testing of lead acid batteries using UHPF from its Kazakhstan project has shown promising results, with higher and more consistent discharge capacity compared to control batteries made with a leading graphite product.

With its high-grade mineral resource in Kazakhstan and a focus on producing premium graphite products, Sarytogan Graphite is poised to capitalize on the growing demand for batteries in various industries. By offering products suitable for lithium-ion, alkaline, and lead acid batteries, the company aims to establish itself as a key player in the global battery market.
