South Star Battery Metals Corp. has announced the signing of a significant sales agreement for the purchase of 100 tonnes of graphite concentrate from its Santa Cruz Graphite Mine in Brazil. The material will be shipped in five shipping containers and is expected to be delivered in Q3 2024. The identity of the American industrial graphite customer remains confidential, but they have shown interest in regular purchases pending positive test results.
The Santa Cruz Graphite Mine is set to complete construction of the Phase-1 Plant in June 2024, marking the first new graphite mine in the Americas since 1996. The commissioning process will follow, with commercial production anticipated in August 2024. Plans for Phase 2 and Phase 3 development are well underway, with approval for environmental permits already secured.
South Star aims to produce high-quality graphite concentrates for various industrial applications while also exploring midstream and downstream products for value-added applications, such as battery-graphite products for lithium-ion battery applications. CEO Richard Pearce expressed excitement over finalizing the purchase order and highlighted the company’s commitment to responsible production and market strategy.
With projects in Brazil and Alabama, South Star Battery Metals Corp. is focused on becoming a leading battery-metals company in strategic jurisdictions. The company’s dedication to ESG principles sets them apart in the industry.
