Infinity Lithium’s San Jose project garners regional interest

The regional government of Extremadura, Spain, has made a significant move by awarding Premia status to Infinity Lithium’s San José project, marking it as a venture of regional and general interest. This decision will streamline the permitting process for the ASX-listed company, expediting its progression through governmental channels.

With the Premia status in place, the exploitation concession application for the lithium project will be prioritised and accelerated, leading to faster administrative processing across all relevant departments. Additionally, the status grants expropriatory powers, making it easier to construct access roads, power lines, and supply pipelines crucial for the project’s development.

Extremadura’s government highlighted the various advantages that come with the Premia status, including subsidies for employment and the declaration of public utility or social interest. Ryan Parkin, the Managing Director and CEO of Infinity Lithium, expressed his excitement about the project’s recognition, emphasizing its importance within Extremadura and the EU.

The successful Stage 1 approval of a viable lithium resource at San Jose has paved the way for the submission of Stage 2 project documentation. This fully integrated industrial project focuses on producing battery-grade lithium chemicals from a mica feedstock, making it the EU’s second-largest hard rock lithium deposit according to the Joint Ore Reserves Committee.

Overall, the Premia status awarded to Infinity Lithium’s San José project signifies a major step forward in the development of Europe’s lithium resources and paves the way for increased investment and growth in the region.
