The hearing comes after conservative media outlet Alpha News requested the release of the officer bodycam and dashcam video from the incident.
James Dickey, the attorney representing Alpha News, stated that there have been conflicting statements made by Senator Mitchell and her attorney regarding the incident. Dickey emphasized the importance of transparency, stating that the public has a strong interest in knowing exactly what transpired during the alleged burglary. The request for the release of the video is being expedited due to the urgency of the matter.
In other news, a St. Paul man, Deonte Thomas, has been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary and sexual assault that occurred at a St. Paul home. Thomas is facing charges of first-degree sexual assault, first-degree burglary, and felony possession of a firearm by an ineligible person. Court documents reveal that Thomas broke into the victim’s home, choked her until she passed out, and then sexually assaulted her at gunpoint.
Additionally, a Rochester man, Malik Johnson, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a victim with a metal tire pump. Johnson is facing charges of second-degree and fifth-degree assault. The victim was found with a bleeding head wound and is currently receiving medical treatment.
In Minneapolis, a 14-year-old has died after being shot at a gas station. Authorities are investigating the incident and have arrested a woman in her 30s in connection with the case. Any suspicious activity should be reported to 911.
