Chinese zipper manufacturer SBS Zipper Bangladesh Co Ltd has made a significant investment of nearly $20 million to set up a garment accessories manufacturing facility in the BEPZA EZ. This move marks a pivotal moment for Bangladesh’s economy, as it showcases the country’s growing appeal to foreign investors.
The new facility is poised to become a major player in the industry, with plans to produce a wide range of products, including metal zippers, nylon zippers, plastic zippers, and various zipper parts and buttons. This ambitious venture is expected to create over 2,000 job opportunities for local Bangladeshis, contributing to the country’s employment sector.
The agreement was recently finalized in Dhaka, with key figures such as BEPZA executive chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman and SBS Zipper Bangladesh CEO Weifang Shen in attendance. Ali Reza Mazid, BEPZA Member for Investment Promotion, also played a crucial role in securing this important deal.
Major General Rahman expressed his gratitude to SBS Zipper Bangladesh for choosing to invest in the BEPZA EZ, emphasizing BEPZA’s commitment to providing full support for the smooth operation and export activities of the new facility. The signing ceremony was also attended by various other BEPZA officials and company representatives, highlighting the collaborative efforts involved in bringing this project to fruition.
