CBA Releases Commemorative Gold Collector Coin for Charles Aznavour’s 100th Birthday Anniversary

The Central Bank of Armenia has unveiled a stunning new collector coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the legendary French-Armenian singer, Charles Aznavour. The coin, minted in gold, features a portrait of Aznavour on the reverse side, alongside the number 100 formed by stylized musical notes, piano keys, and a microphone.

Aznavour, who passed away in 2018, was a multi-talented artist known for his soulful music, captivating performances, and extensive humanitarian work. Born to Armenian immigrant parents in Paris, he rose to fame in the 1950s and went on to write and record over 1000 songs in multiple languages, including hits like “La Bohème” and “She”.

In addition to his musical achievements, Aznavour also had a successful acting career, appearing in over 90 films, and was a prolific writer. Following the devastating Spitak earthquake in 1988, he established the Aznavour for Armenia association, which later evolved into the Aznavour Foundation, dedicated to supporting educational, social, and cultural initiatives in Armenia.

The release of this commemorative coin is a fitting tribute to Aznavour’s enduring legacy and his profound impact on the world of music and beyond. With only 500 pieces issued, collectors and fans alike are sure to cherish this limited edition keepsake honoring a true icon.
